🚲 Let's go for the Paris - Bordeaux adventure by bike on an electric bike , a muscle-powered bike , or a gravel bike for the more sporty riders! A first day between nature and heritage to ease into the journey.



🚴‍♂️ With DolceVia , head towards EuroVelo 3 , the Scandibérique. The route follows the Seine, passing through forests and small villages—a perfect way to start smoothly. Today's goal: reaching Saint-Fargeau-Ponthierry for a night by the water.

Day 2: From Saint-Fargeau-Ponthierry to Fontainebleau by bike, along Moret-sur-Loing (53 km)



🚲 Another day on the saddle, heading to Fontainebleau via EuroVelo 3 ! This stage promises stunning discoveries, from charming villages and preserved nature to delicious gourmet stops.

🏡 First stop: Moret-sur-Loing , ranked among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. Its cobbled streets, picturesque bridges, and Loing River banks make it the perfect place for a break. Take the time to wander and admire the historic architecture.

🏰 Must-see spots in Moret-sur-Loing: - Porte de Samois and Porte de Bourgogne , remnants of the ancient fortifications. - François I House , a historic landmark marking the king’s presence in the region.

🌲 After this historical break, it’s time to ride towards Fontainebleau! The route winds through a beautiful forest with shaded paths, offering the perfect setting for a nature-filled cycling experience.

🚴‍♂️ Another day in the saddle! Heading towards Montargis, the "Venice of Gâtinais," passing through charming villages, preserved nature, and historical sites.

🏡 First stop at Grez-sur-Loing , a timeless village that has inspired many artists. Its stone bridge, the Tour de Ganne, and its medieval church make for a lovely stop. For a nature break, why not hop in a canoe on the Loing?

🏰 Further along, Nemours and its castle-museum take you deep into history. Wander through the town center, explore the Museum of Prehistory , or board Le Zia , a panoramic boat that sails from Montcourt to Nemours with a stop at the castle.

🌿 After this cultural break, head towards Souppes-sur-Loing . With its leisure base and peaceful canal, it’s the perfect spot to relax before setting off again on the quiet roads of Gâtinais.

🏰 A must-stop at Châtillon-Coligny , a town with a rich medieval heritage, including its ramparts, keep, and 14th-century buildings. A stroll through its streets will take you back in time.

Day 5: From Briare to Sully-sur-Loire, Discovering the Vineyards (40km)



🚴‍♂️ The day starts in Briare, where you cross the majestic canal bridge connecting La Scandibérique to La Loire à Vélo, a true symbol of hydraulic engineering. The cycling journey continues along the royal river, offering stunning landscapes with every pedal stroke.

🏰 First stop in Briare , with its famous canal bridge and museums, including the Museum of the 2 Marines and the Mosaic and Enamel Museum, offering an immersion in the local history.

🚴‍♂️ Head towards Saint-Brisson-sur-Loire , where you can visit its castle, a beautiful example of medieval architecture.

🍇 You’ll then cross the vineyards of the Coteaux du Giennois , classified AOC, perfect for a little tasting break.

🚴‍♂️ After a peaceful stop at the foot of the Sully-sur-Loire Castle, this stage of La Scandibérique takes you through the endless loops of the Loire River to Orléans. A relaxing journey, perfect for appreciating the beauty of nature and the riverside landscapes.

🏰 The first stop is at the Fleury Abbey in St-Benoît-sur-Loire , a place full of history and tranquility, ideal for a contemplative break. Not far from there, the Carolingian oratory of Germigny-des-Prés immerses you in the medieval past.

🚢 Continue your journey by discovering the Marine Museum of the Loire in Châteauneuf-sur-Loire, where you can learn more about river navigation. The city's park, with its remarkable tree species, is the perfect setting for a family picnic.

🏞️ In Jargeau , the levee allows you to enjoy breathtaking views of the river before continuing your journey towards Orléans. With each pedal stroke, the silhouette of Orléans gradually emerges on the horizon, signaling the end of the stage.

Jour 7 : From Orléans to Blois, along the loops of the Royal River (63km)



🏰 After a night in Orléans, get back on the pedals on La Scandibérique heading towards the confluence of the Loiret and the Loire, a pleasant moment to appreciate the beauty of the river landscape.

🌾 The route follows a levee along the Loire through agricultural and market garden plains, leading you to Meung-sur-Loire. A stop at its castle, famous for its dungeons that once imprisoned the poet François Villon, is a must.

🌉 Then, head towards Beaugency with its historic heritage, including its 12th-century bridge with 23 arches. The quays of Beaugency, classified as "Most Beautiful Detour in France," transform into a beach in the summer, while the cornfields become a fun maze for cycling families.

⚡ The striking contrast between the picturesque villages, the Saint-Laurent-des-Eaux nuclear power plant, and the castles will remind you of the river's historical importance for human activities.

🚴‍♂️ As you approach Muides-sur-Loire, you’ll have to choose between following the Loire directly to Blois or embarking on an adventure on the left bank to discover the Land of Castles by bike.

🚴‍♂️ The stage starts at Confolens, leaving behind the medieval bridge, and continues along the banks of the Vienne River to Exideuil. The route then takes a more Charentais turn with a visit to the Château de la Chétardie.

🌳 Continue towards the lakes of Haute-Charente, including the Lavaud and Mas Chaban, created to regulate the low flow of the Charente River in summer. These lakes offer water activities and birdwatching, perfect for a refreshing break before heading towards Massignac.

🏞️ The route continues with beautiful viewpoints, but also some steep climbs through the foothills of the Massif Central. The valleys are deep, and the Tardoire River can rise suddenly. Montbron offers a pleasant water sports base for canoeing and kayaking.

🏰 Finally, you will reach Marthon, a village where La Scandibérique connects to the Flow Vélo. The village has preserved its market halls and its ancient Tour du Breuil, an old donjon from a medieval castle.

Day 14: From Marthon to Barbezieux via Angoulême (80 km): A Journey Through Art and History



🚴‍♂️ The stage starts at Marthon, heading towards Angoulême, where La Scandibérique follows La Flow Vélo through the Bandiat Valley. You will take the "Coulée d’Oc" greenway, a peaceful route that immerses you in the calm atmosphere of the countryside, passing through small villages rich in Romanesque heritage.

🌳 After Chazelles and its Quéroy Caves, the route takes a turn towards Angoulême, following the Touvre river. Take the opportunity to stop and discover the fascinating sources of this river, fed by underground waters.

📚 Angoulême is a true pilgrimage for comic book enthusiasts. Don’t miss the painted walls, the Comic Strip Museum, the International City of Comics and Images, and the Paper Museum. You can also explore the Treasure of Saint-Pierre Cathedral and the Poitou-Charentes Regional Contemporary Art Fund.

⛪ Leaving Angoulême, the route takes you to Mosnac and Châteauneuf-sur-Charente, where the Charentais vineyards will give you a beautiful glimpse of the region.

🚴‍♂️ This stage of La Scandibérique takes you from Barbezieux to Clérac, passing through increasingly dense forests, reaching the medieval fortress of Montguyon, before arriving in Libourne.

🌳 Located in the heart of the Saintonge forest, Clérac offers a peaceful nature break. As you head towards the Bordeaux region, the landscape alternates between pine forests and lakes with blue reflections, shaped by kaolin mining. This green and blue scenery guides cyclists to Guîtres.

🍇 Finally, Libourne appears, an old river port at the confluence of the Isle and Dordogne rivers. The southern atmosphere is in the air!

Day 16 : Final Stage: From Libourne to Bordeaux (65 km) – The End of the Paris-Bordeaux Cycling Adventure!



🍷 La Scandibérique crosses the prestigious Saint-Émilion vineyard, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Take a break to stroll around the ancient ramparts before crossing the Dordogne. Then, a climb through the vineyards leads to the Roger Lapébie Greenway. Be sure to take the direction of Créon to reach Bordeaux—heading the other way leads to La Réole and the Canal des 2 Mers!

🌿 The Entre-deux-Mers region, between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, is a wine-growing area set on a limestone plateau. The greenway winds through vineyards until reaching Bordeaux, following the right bank of the Garonne. The iconic Pont de Pierre marks the entrance to the city, leading into the Saint-Michel and Saint-Jean districts.

🏛️ Before continuing on La Scandibérique, take the time to explore Bordeaux, a transformed city worth a visit. Enjoy its culture and gastronomy, and admire your cycling reflection in the famous Water Mirror before heading south towards the landscapes of the Landes de Gascogne.
